      Functions of Collective Bargaining: The collective bargaining is a tool to resolve conflicts. Arthur D Butter, in his book Labour Economics and Institutions, has outlined three functions of collective bargaining: (1) Technique of long run social change, (2) Peace treaty between two parties and (3) Establishing system of industrial jurisprudence. 1. Collective bargaining is the process in which working people, through their unions, negotiate contracts with their employers to determine their terms of employment, including pay, benefits, hours, leave, job health and safety policies, ways to balance work and family, and more. Collective bargaining is a way to solve workplace problems.

        The battlefield is littered with evidence of labour’s defeat: nugatory pay awards, precarious work, the collapse of collective bargaining, and cuts in public spending. Conflict resolution refers to the process of ending a conflict or a dispute by satisfying at least partially the needs of each side and addressing their interests. It is an interdisciplinary and a relatively new field of research that started to develop after World War II ().
